Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Friday chaired a virtual meeting of the committee on New Education Policy.
Speaking to reporters, CM Sawant said, "I had a virtual meeting with committee on NEP about secondary education. I have guided them and suggested the formation of three sub-committees for pre-primary, secondary and higher secondary education. I have asked them to check the status of educational infrastructure and syllabus and to submit recommendation by te end of February 2021 so that the NEP can be implemented from the coming academic year."
MLA Subhash Shirodkar, who is a member of the committee said that the virtual meeting went on for about two and half hours.
"As per the NEP, vocational education will be incorporated in the syllabus for Std VI, VII and VIII. Std 9 till Std XII will be clubbed together and there will be no junior college anymore. It is an overhaul of our educational system," Shirodkar stated.
