Chief Minister, Laxmikant Parsekar on Saturday thanked the people of Cuncolim for electing a
model MLA Rajan Naik in the 2012 election and urged the electorate to stand by the MLA in the 2017 election.
“Some people are saying that Rajan has not done anything during his tenure. It is a fact that Rajan has not done money like some previous MLAs. Rajan is a model MLA and the party would like to thank the people of Cuncolim for having elected him as MLA,” Parsekar said, while addressing the Vijay Sankalp rally at Cuncolim on Saturday.
In his address, Defense Minister, Manohar Parrikar said that Rajan’s election to the Assembly had
provided stability to the BJP government. “I would like to thank the people for electing Rajan in the 2012 election. By electing Rajan, you had helped the party to provide a stable government”, Parrikar said.
In his address, the Cuncolim MLA pooh poohed reports that he was not able to usher in the
development of the constituency. “During my tenure, I was able to build to vital bridges, one at
Sanvorcotto and the other at Balli. These two bridges have helped ease problems in these two areas,” he said.
On the long pending issue of traffic problem at the Chandor railway crossing, Rajan said this issue was never resolved by his predecessors, but exuded confidence of resolving the issue once and for all. He announced the South Central railway will take up both road over bridge and road under bridge at the railway crossing with financial support from the State government. “Inspections of the sites near the railway crossing has been done and the work might start anytime from now”, he said.
Rajan said he has been instrumental in the acquisition of the land for the NIT campus at Cuncolim,
adding that Cuncolim would figure on the education map of the country once the prestigious institute takes shape.
