In a bid to explain the government's predicament in providing jobs to all, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday stressed on the need to upskill to create human resource that matches industry's needs and gain employment.
"It is not possible for the government to give everyone jobs. In a household, job for husband, wife.....it is not possible, So it is important to skill yourself. Just graduation will not be enough," Sawant said while speaking to a large audience mostly comprising youth at the Bhirondem panchayat in Sattari.
Sawant was speaking after launching several projects in Valpoi and Poriem in the presence of Health Minister Vishwajit Rane and Poriem MLA, Deviya Rane.
He said, several relevant skill development courses have been started by the various Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) of the government even as he urged the youth to enrol themselves for these so they are employable by industry.
Sawant along with the Ranes laid the foundation stones for a plethora of projects including upgradation of community hall facilities, enhancement of lift irrigation schemes, improvement in water supply infrastructure and the enhancement of power distribution transformer centres.
Additionally, one of the projects inaugurated was the testing and commissioning of the 11KV underground cable.
Rane said, the projects launched on Sunday for Valpoi and Poriem were worth around Rs 220 crore and he spoke of the government's vision to enhance access to essential infrastructural amenities to improve ease of living.
"Today, amidst overwhelming support, we launched crucial development projects in Valpoi and Poriem, taking an important step towards bringing about progress in rural Goa," Rane later wrote on micro-blogging site 'X' (formerly Twitter).
"Let's unleash the potential of rural Goa and contribute to Bharat's growth journey under the leadership of Hon'ble PM Shri @narendramodi ji," Rane wrote further using the hashtag #TheGoaModel.
Rane said, Valpoi and Poriem are experiencing a significant boost in infrastructure, thanks to these projects.
"One of the key areas of improvement is the water supply system, which has undergone substantial enhancements to ensure better access and reliability for residents," he said.
The development of the panchayat ground in Usgao was another project that Rane highlighted saying it promises to be a catalyst for positive change in the community.
It aims to create opportunities for social interaction beyond providing facilities for sports enthusiasts by offering a modern and inviting space for gatherings and events.
The ground will become more than just a sports facility -- it becomes a focal point for community cohesion and empowerment, he added.
Deviya Rane in her speech highlighted the projects initiated to improve the lift irrigation schemes and urged the younger generation to get into farming so that the government's efforts to make Goa 'swayampurna' (self sufficient) fructify.
ZP members, sarpanches and panch members from the entire Sattari taluka attended the event.
