CM focuses on employment generation for Pernem taluka

Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar on Tuesday said he is focused on providing more job opportunities in Pernem taluka, with the setting up of the IT project at Tuem and the extension of Tuem Industrial Estate.
He was speaking after distributing sanction letters to 33 beneficiaries of the Chief Minister Employment Scheme at Agarwaddo Panchayat hall. EDC chairman and Panaji MLA Siddharth Kuncalienkar, Agarwaddo Sarpanch Shashikala Damaji, Panch Prabhakar Nagvekar, EDC general manager Arvind Ghatkar, officer Santosh Kenkre, Anil Tendulkar, Mandrem BJP mandal president Ramesh Shet Mandrekar, former ZP member Deepak Kalangutkar and others were present on the occasion.
Speaking further, Parsekar said that then chief minister Manohar Parrrikar had initiated the employment scheme.
“It is a good opportunity for the people to pursue self-employment, where loans ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 5 lakh can be availed without any surety,” said Parsekar and added that 6,000 people have taken benefit of the scheme.
Speaking to reporters, MLA Kuncalienkar said 200 youth had benefitted from the scheme in 2002.
“There is no need to visit EDC office to avail the scheme, but officers are creating awareness of the scheme in each village,” he added.
