Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has said the State government is making efforts to ensure that women in rural areas of the State are self-reliant and self-sufficient.
He was speaking at the Ravindra Bhavan in Sanquelim after distributing sewing machines to 150 women who received training in sewing, conducted by the Department of Labor and Employment under women empowerment at various places in the State.
Sawant informed that since 2016, training classes have been conducted for women through various initiatives.
He said around 1,450 women in the State will benefit from this scheme and sewing machines will be distributed to women in other talukas as well. Dr Levinson Martins also spoke on the occasion.
Sanquelim Municipal Council Chairperson Siddhi Prabhu, Anand Kanekar, Vijay Kumar Natekar and others were also present on the occasion.
