PANAJI: Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has hailed Goa University for being ranked 20th among 100 universities in the country saying it is Goa’s only university and the government always supported it.
He said even though Goa is a small State, our government has made a budget provision of Rs 39.75 crore for Goa University for the current financial year. Moreover, whatever revenue is raised by the University through tuition fees and others, is an additional boost.
Additionally, Rs 20 crore has been sanctioned under Rashtriya Uchhatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) scheme, of which Rs 12 crore is the State share, he said.
"In a state like Goa, wherein the government is supportive towards education, Goa University can definitely achieve greater heights in the years to come", Parsekar said.
