CM laces Dussehra greetings with ‘Covid precautions’ warning

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant laced his greeting message with a ‘Covid precautions’ warning on the eve of Dussehra.

He urged that people take precautions  against Covid-19 “as has been done so far”.

Sawant’s message circulated by the State Information department said: “Dussehra is a pious and principled path exemplified by the life and deeds of Lord Rama. It also honours Goddess Durga’s battle against Mahishasura, fighting the evil forces. Let us keep our spirits high, by taking right precautions in the fight against Covid-19, as is being done all this while,” Sawant said.

Goa has thus far counted 42,000 people contracting the dreaded virus, adding up to nearly 3 per cent of the census population.

Also, 570 have died after testing positive, recording one of the highest per million mortality rate among States in India.

Meanwhile Bhagat Singh Koshyari who is officiating as Governor in addition to neighbouring Maharashtra also sent in his Dussehra greetings.

His message said, the festival strengthens national integration and reaffirms faith in the “unity in diversity” concept.

“Today, when the world is torn by the evils of intolerance, hatred and violence let us renew our commitment to the great values of tolerance, brotherhood and peace,” the message from Koshyari said.
