Stating that the focus of Invest Goa summit should be on bringing in 75 new projects in the State, the chief minister Pramod Sawant laid thrust on setting up of green industries which will not be energy intensive and at the same time generate employment.
Sawant was speaking at the pre-cursor of the 'Invest Goa Summit 2022' event at the GCCI Convention Hall in Panaji on Thursday. On the occasion, the Invest Goa Summit 2022 logo and knowledge paper 'Goa - the destination for cutting edge investments' was released by the CM and other dignitaries.
The GCCI in collaboration with the State Government, FICCI, and Invest India, are organising the ‘Invest Goa Summit 2022’ at Taleigao Community Centre on October 7.
"The main focus will be on green industries, which will not be energy intensive and which will generate employment like IT, ITES, electronics, logistics, startups, R&D centres, agro and food processing, tourism and allied sectors, education and entertainment," Sawant stated.
Further, the CM said the summit will also focus on employment based skill development, bridging gap between the industry and academics, introduction of latest technology, Artificial Intelligence, coding, research and development, etc.
Stating that Goa offers various advantages like infrastructure, power and water, human resource, superb connectivity among others, Sawant highlighted that Invest Goa Summit 2022 aims at portraying Goa as a lucrative investment destination to potential investors.
He further said that due to its strategic location, Goa has the potential to become the prime logistic hub in India.
"I urge all businesses and investors to use their skills to get serious investors in the State," Sawant appealed and opined that the potential outcome of the summit should be generating 10,000 jobs and more than Rs 15,000 crore investment opportunities.
Stating that many investors have shown interest in coming to Goa, past president of GCCI Manguirish Pai Raiker hoped that the bureaucrats and government departments will give prompt, honest service to attract the investors.
GCCI President Ralph de Sousa thanked the government for introducing ease of doing business in TCP, tourism and GSPCB.
GCCI Vice President Shrinivas Dempo, immediate past president Manoj Caculo, joint secretary Yatin Kakodkar, EDC chairman Sadanand Tanavade and other dignitaries were present.
