CM must step down: Khaunte

PORVORIM

Claiming that the State government had no right to continue in light of accusations by former Goa Governor Satya Pal Malik, Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte on Tuesday demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.

“It is not the opposition which has levelled charges against the chief minister, but Malik is the governor of Meghalaya and a senior leader with connection to the RSS who has made the accusations,” Khaunte told reporters in Porvorim.

“In light of these allegations, the chief minister has to gracefully resign or BJP should sack him along with other ministers involved in the corruption,” Khaunte said.

Khaunte said the issue was more serious as Malik had levelled allegations of corruption during the Covid pandemic.

“People have lost their lives because of corruption, and hence, the chief minister has no moral ground to continue as chief minister,” said Khaunte.
