Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Sunday lauded the Health Department for organising the dry run for Covid vaccination in a smooth manner at four locations across the State. He expressed confidence that, being a small State, Goa would be able to carry out 100 per cent vaccination successfully.

“We have managed to go through every detail including the provision of cold chain to ensure a smooth vaccination drive. As Goa is a small State, I believe that we will be 100 per cent successful in completing the vaccination drive,” Chief Minister Sawant stated.

He further disclosed that in the first phase of vaccination, the government is likely to line up frontline Covid warriors, employees of the Health Department and health workers for a shot followed by senior citizens.

“But this has not been finalised and all will be decided as per the guidelines we receive. A concrete decision will be taken soon as per the guidelines of the Centre regarding vaccination programme for the general public,” the Chief Minister said asserting that the decision on immunisation will be adopted immediately upon receipt of orders from the Central government.

He was talking to reporters after attending to the people’s grievances at the Janata Darbar at Ravindra Bhavan on Sunday.

The Chief Minister further said that despite the Covid crisis in the year 2020, the State government has made satisfactory progress on all fronts.

The Chief Minister was also asked whether the municipal elections will be held along the party lines, in keeping with the policy adopted by his party previously. He said, “No final decision has been taken yet. We will clarify our position soon.”
