PANAJI/BICHOLIM
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant reiterated that the land for setting up an IIT campus at Melauli has already been allotted and insisted that the role of the government in this project is clear and transparent.

“We have personally visited the village and interacted with the people. Land has already been handed over to the IIT and the further process is on,” he stated.

While continuing to discourage people from laying stake to government land, Chief Minister Sawant said that he is ready to listen to the demands of the people.

“I assure that no injustice will be meted out to the locals. Government will go out of its way to find and fast track solutions to their issues,” the Chief Minister said adding that the government intends to keep at its plan of setting up the IIT despite severe and persistent opposition from the villagers of Shel-Melauli.

The Chief Minister also sought to clarify that the demand for setting up a police sub-station in the vicinity was not to intimidate the people but based on the demand from the IIT itself. He urged people not to misinterpret the move.
