PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant lauded Dharmendra Pradhan for his dedicated service as Union Education Minister following his resignation amid nationwide protests over the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak row.


Reacting to Pradhan's decision on Saturday, Sawant expressed his gratitude and thanked him for his four decades of public service. "Dharmendra Pradhan ji has stepped down as Union Education Minister, a decision that reflects the same sense of responsibility that has marked his four decades in public life," said Sawant.


Sawant said that from his early years in student activism to leading the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, expanding the reach of the Ujjwala scheme to crores of households, and later heading the Ministry of Education, Pradhan had served the nation with conviction and tireless dedication. He added that Pradhan's leadership in implementing the National Education Policy would leave a lasting impact on India's education system.


"I thank Pradhan ji for his years of dedicated service. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, I am confident you will continue to contribute to a Viksit Bharat. Wishing you good health and strength in the journey ahead," Sawant said.
