PANAJI:  Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has appealed to the public to report cases of drug addiction among youth to the police, Health Department or Social Welfare Department so that affected individuals can be admitted to rehabilitation centres and receive treatment.

Speaking at the state-level launch of the "Nashamukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat – Sankalp Abhiyan", the Chief Minister said drug dealers often lure young people by initially supplying drugs free of cost through friends and social circles, eventually leading to addiction. He warned that addiction frequently pushes youth towards criminal activities, including theft, to finance their drug dependence.

Sawant called on citizens to actively support the campaign for a drug-free Goa, stressing that combating substance abuse is a collective social responsibility.

"It is the social responsibility of every citizen, especially teachers, to help build a Nasha Mukt Goa. I urge every Goan to voluntarily extend their support in making the State drug-free. For a Viksit Bharat, we need Viksit Yuva, and for that we must have Nasha Mukt Yuva," Sawant said.
