PANAJI: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar resumed work on Friday and held a series of meetings at his office in the secretariat reviewing the law and order situation with the Director General of Police, the Chief Secretary, the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister and other officers.
The Chief Minister also held meetings with ministers and MLAs and has called for a full cabinet meeting on Monday, June 18.
The Chief Minister who began his day by visiting temples in Panaji and Marcel kept his interactions with the public at a minimum but didn’t shy away from greeting them either.
In a video message to the people of Goa, shared via his social media accounts, the Chief Minister, who looks to have aged considerably during his period of treatment, thanked the people of Goa for their prayers, blessings and support.
“When I was not well through your prayers, blessings and support I am once again ready to work. I trust that your prayers and blessings will remain the same way that they have over the last few months,” Parrikar said.
“I wish to assure you that I will continue to work for Goa’s development and betterment and that I will be at your service,” the Chief Minister said.
The Chief Minister has also called for a meeting of the business advisory committee that will finalise the dates of the monsoon session of the Goa Legislative Assembly. They are likely to be held between July 19 and August 3.
Among the MLAs that the Chief Minister met was Deepak Prabhu Pauskar who briefed the chief minister on the situation of the mining-affected persons.
The Chief Minister is expected to try and pacify the mining-affected persons first with Deepak Pauskar claiming that the Chief Minister told him that meetings will be held on Monday and Tuesday to decide a way forward.
Legislators cutting across party lines called on the Chief Minister at his office with Congress legislators Chandrakant Kavlekar, Aleixo Lourenço and Nilkanth Halarnkar all visiting the Chief Minister and expressing happiness to see him working like before.
From the ruling side ministers Vinoda Paliencar, Govind Gaude Vijai Sardesai all spoke to the chief minister while MLAs Michael Lobo, Glenn Ticlo and others also called on the chief minister.

Assembly session
likely from July 19
PANAJI: With the return of the Chief Minister, the monsoon session of the Goa Legislative Assembly has been tentatively scheduled to begin on July 19 and will end on August 3 making it a two and a half weeks assembly session. Earlier in the day, no sooner he resumed charge of his office, the chief minister briefed his office staff of the new protocols they are to follow after his return. The budget session of the assembly which was initially scheduled to be for three weeks was curtailed in view of the chief minister’s sudden illness.
The discussion on the budget as well as the demand for grants will be taken up in the meeting.

CM calls on Governor
PANAJI: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar called on Governor Mridula Sinha on Friday evening.Parrikar had informed the Governor prior to his departure to the US for his medical treatment and had even set up the three member cabinet advisory committee after consulting the Governor.
