Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has said children need to develop an interest in science and technology at an early age.
He was speaking at the inaugural function of the Mini Science Centre at Government high School in Navelim-Bicholim. “With the development of many new concepts in the field of science, there is a need to give children an opportunity to use various techniques,” said Sawant.
Ashutosh Pandit of the STEM Institute said his company has started such centres in 23 states across the country free of cost to develop children in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
Gopal Surlakar, Sadanand Shetty, Leena Kalagutkar, Namrata Gawas, Janardan Sawant Vishwambhar Gawas, Chandrakant Gawas, etc were present at the event.
On the occasion, prizes were given to Roshni Naik, Aarti Gawas, Mahima Ghadi (science rangoli competition), Sania Shingadi, Sadgadi Shingadi and Nidhi Gawas (essay competition) and Vaishnavi Gawas, Ruksana Khan and Maneka Kumar (poster competition).
Science teacher Janardan Sawant was also felicitated by the chief minister.
