The Trinamool Congress is leaving no stone unturned in taking its flagship Griha Laxmi scheme to every corner of the State, making it one of its major poll planks, and is buoyed by the response it is receiving.
On Wednesday, the party held a bike rally in Porvorim to create awareness about the scheme. Over 1,100 youth participated in the rally, which was organised by TMC leader Sandeep Vazarkar.
The rally was flagged off by Lok Sabha MP and party’s Goa in-charge Mahua Moitra and Vazarkar.
Moitra said the bike rally was a unique idea to propagate the Griha Laxmi scheme, which promises Rs 5,000 per month to every Goan household. “As of now, over 1.75 lakh families have already registered for the scheme,” she informed.
Vazarkar, who is heading the party’s affairs in Porvorim, said, ‘We are covering all the panchayats in Porvorim to create awareness about the registration process and benefits of the scheme. The bike rally on Wednesday covered Socorro, Salvador Do Mundo and Penha De Franca panchayats, he said.
The party said the scheme is receiving an overwhelming response and vowed to implement it within the first two months of coming to power in Goa.
