Stating that the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant comes from Bahujan Samaj, he should resolve the issues of the Kul-Mundkars as soon as possible appealed Babu Ajgaonkar while addressing the farmers meet at Virnoda. Hoping that the CM would take action to give justice to the long pending issues of the Kul Mundkars in Goa, Ajgaonkar expressed his support to the agitation organised by Pernem Taluka Nagrik Samiti in support of Kul Mundkar Janajagruti Manch.
Appealing to people to bring a pressure on the government and stay united, Ajgaonkar appealed the government to resolve the long pending issues of Kul Mundkars in the State. He was accompanied by Adv Prabhakar Narulkar, Pernem Taluka Nagrik Samiti president Pundalik Dhargalkar, convenor Sadanand Vaingankar, social activist Rajan Ghate, Shivkumar Arolkar, Mahadev Chari, Narayan Talatkar and others.
Ajaonkar further stated that when he came to the Pernem constituency in 1999, there were many issues, and he worked with the then Chief Minister late Manohar Parrikar to make certain Acts to resolve water and electricity issues. He pointed out that it was he who brought Mopa airport in the area and the AYUSH Hospital project. However, he lamented that the locals have not got any employment through these projects and efforts have to be made to provide jobs to the local public. He appealed to the public to support the Kul Mundkar Sanghatana.
Adv Prabhakar Narulkar recalled that the in 1975 after Kul Mundkar Act, first Chief Minister of Goa, late Bhausaheb Bandodkar created awareness among the public, and many got homes and lands through the process. But the governments that followed after Bandodkars’ did not take the issue seriously and neglected implementing these laws and the laws remained on papers. There were many changes in the laws after that but the Kuls were deprived from getting fair trial, and had to wait for years and generations to get justice. The cases that were filed during the grandfather’s time are still pending in the court and grandsons are fighting those, said the advocate. If the government is trying to dodge the issue further, we have to bring pressure on the government to get justice, said Adv Narulkar.
Social activist Rajan Ghate appealed all to join the agitation and support Kul Mundkars. Convenor Sadanand Vaingankar pointed out the issue of taxi operators and said that outsiders are coming here to do business, but locals are kept deprived from employment. Vaingankar also pointed out that the 3500 cases pending in the courts should be resolved soon.
