"I would be contesting election from Pernem constituency, whether or not I get ticket," announced Babu Ajgaonkar while replying to a question by media at Pernem. He was here to attend a programme.
Ajgaonkar was denied a BJP seat from Pernem in 2022, and was asked to contest from Margao. He contested the election but was defeated. Pernem seat was given to Pravin Arlekar who had joined hands with BJP coming from MGP.
After this incident there was a rift between Ajgaonkar and Arlkar who kept on criticising each other on various occasions.
Ajgaonkar kept on announcing that he would be contesting from Pernem constituency, and he once again repeated his plan in the Pernem Taluka Nagrik Samiti’s farmers meet on December 17. Pernem constituency has reserved seat.
