Stating that his government would not spare those who have committed fraud in the cooperative sector, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Thursday assured that the Goa State Co-operative Bank would not face similar problems like Mapusa Urban Cooperative Bank and the Margao Urban Cooperative Bank.
Sawant also said new sectors like agriculture, horticulture and fishing along with women and youth have to be involved in the cooperative movement, so that the theme of this year’s cooperative week “Role of Cooperative in new India” innovation through rural cooperatives can be implemented.
The CM was speaking at the inaugural function of 66th cooperative week organised by registrar of cooperative societies at Sahakar Bhavan, Curti, Ponda. The cooperative week will be celebrated from November 14-20.
Speaking further, the chief minister said various activities will be organised all over Goa and India during this week.
He appealed to all those involved in the cooperative activities to work hard and use their experience to boost cooperation sector.
Cooperation Minister Govind Gaude said since poor people are involved in cooperation sector, he is gives 70% of his working time to the cooperation sector.
He said efforts are on to save the Sanjivani sugar factory.
Gaude said the board of directors are responsible for the failure of many cooperative organisations and warn that he would not spare anyone involved in corrupt activities.
Ponda MLA Ravi Naik said one should work selflessly in the field of cooperation and added that senior officials in the cooperation sector should guide their juniors so that cooperative sector can rise to greater heights.
