Canacona Municipal Council (CMC) Market Inspector Yesso Desai is likely to be suspended on Tuesday, after the Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) reportedly directed the chief officer to issue the suspension order.

According to reliable sources, the chief officer, while acting on the DMA directives, is reported to have prepared the suspension notice and a copy was sent to the DMA for confirmation.

The suspension order is expected to be served on Tuesday on the inspector, in connection with his misconduct at the council meeting on

June 21.

Sources confirmed the suspension order, but refused to divulge any further details before the order is served on the inspector.

“The suspension order, which reportedly mentions the objectionable conduct of Yesso Desai at the council meeting and his brawl with Dy Chairperson Shamsunder Desai at the council meeting on June 21, will be served on Tuesday morning,” added the source.

Following the suspension of the inspector, an enquiry is expected to be conducted on the alleged misbehaviour of Yesso Desai.

According to sources, Yesso Desai, who had immediately proceeded on leave after the incident, joined duty last week and had attended office on Monday.

Meanwhile, CMC councillors, including the chairperson and dy chairperson, who had boycotted the council for almost all of last week, returned to council duty on Monday, reportedly after getting an assurance from political leaders that action against Desai was likely by Monday.
