Taking serious cognizance of the game of one-upmanship witnessed in Cuncolim Municipal Council between the Chief Officer and ruling Council, Director of Municipal Administration, Elvis Gomes has submitted a report to the government with a plea to order a vigilance probe into reports of sale of scrap items by the Council without the knowledge of the Chief Officer.

Gomes told The Goan that he has submitted a detailed report to the government with a request to order a vigilance inquiry into the police complaint filed by the Chief Officer Pandarinath Naik that scrap items from the treatment plant site were disposed of by the vice-chairperson, Mario Moraes.

“What is happening at the Cuncolim Municipal Council will not take the Council anywhere. Registration of cases against the vice-chairperson by the police based on the complaints lodged by the Chief Officer does not augur well for the civic body. I have submitted a detailed report to the government on the happenings in the civic body,” he said.

Referring to the CO’s FIR lodged against the CMC vice-chairperson that he has disposed of the scrap material without allegedly issuing the receipts, Gomes said he has asked the government to order a vigilance probe to bring out the exact truth.
