Responding to Chief Minister Parrikar’s visit to the Secretariat on the first day of the New Year, the Congress on Tuesday slammed the ruling party for exhibiting the CM when he was not in a physical state to go to the place.

Congress spokesperson Jitendra Deshprabhu explained that Parrikar had a nasogastric tube in his nose -- a plastic tube that goes through his nose and throat into the stomach. The same, he said, when it passes through the patient’s vocal chords makes it impossible for the patient to talk. Deshprabhu said that even if the CM attempted to talk, no words would come out, and hence, anyone saying they held “discussions” with Parrikar were not telling the truth.

“Parrikar has not yet spoken. He doesn’t meet either media persons or members of the Opposition. The nasogastric tube would not make it possible for him to hold discussions, as claimed by

some people. This exhibition of the CM will cost the party and the CM himself,” said Deshprabhu.

Meanwhile, the Congressman said that they had always asked for the CM to prove that he was capable, and had not wished him ill. His own party, however, was not taking care of him, as was evident, he said, by Parrikar’s latest two visits. Deshprabhu also alleged that peoples’ work was still not getting done, and that there is corruption going on in the government.

He also said the government was resorting to all these tactics, including attempting to inaugurate the third Mandovi bridge before its completion, as they were scared of losing the 2019 LS elections.
