Insisting that he was not informed by the chief officer before relieving the municipal inspector, MMC Chairperson Nandadeep Raut said he should have been informed about the DMA request.
“The system is that any inward correspondence comes to the chief officer and a copy of it comes on my table. But this time, the copy did not come to my table and I was not aware of the request.”
“The chief officer issued a direct order to deploy our inspector to DMA. With one inspector gone, people will face difficulty. We presently have one part-time inspector for our entire municipality, which covers three constituencies of Vasco, Mormugao and Dabolim,” said Raut.
“For any MMC inspections or other public works, reports are sought from inspectors, without which, nothing can be finalised during assessments. The lone part-time inspector has also been asking for leave on health grounds and if he goes on leave, the MMC will have no inspectors at all. I request the government and Urban Development Minister and Mormugao MLA Milind Naik to reinstate our inspector Sachin Padval back to MMC immediately,” said Raut.
“I will surely ask the CO why he acted so hastily and what was the reason for the haste,” he stated.
