Coast Guard evacuates ailing captain

The Indian Coast Guard on Sunday carried out a medical evacuation and airlifted the captain of a ship who required medical attention.

According to a press release, the Coast Guard received a message informing that the master of MT Elim Ship, Yi Myong Bok (50) needed emergency medical help. 

“The Indian Coast Guard Goa successfully conducted swift sea-air coordination.  At 05.30 hours Indian Coast Guard ship sailed out from Goa for medical evacuation of the patient.”

“For speedy recovery of the patient at 1100 hours the CG chetak helicopter was launched from Goa. The helicopter reached the vessel at 11.50 hours, encountering gusting winds of 30 knots in marginal weather condition winched up the patient at 1205 hours.”

“The successful execution operation resulting in saving of precious life, reiterates the faith of seafarers community in the Indian Coast Guard, which always lives up to its motto “Vayam Rakshamah”” said the press note.

VALPOITurmeric will be planted in eight hectares of land in different places of Sattari taluka this year.
