Sixty-six personnel of the Goa Coastal Security Police have completed a Sea Port Awareness Training programme conducted with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to strengthen coastal and port security in the State.
A press release from the department said the five-day training programme is being held at the CISF unit of the Mormugao Port Authority in Vasco. It is part of efforts to improve the skills of coastal police personnel deployed along Goa’s 193.97-km coastline.
The initiative was launched in line with recommendations made at the Directors General and Inspectors General of Police Conference 2025. The training curriculum was designed by CISF Commandant Yogesh Parmar.
So far, three batches comprising 66 personnel have completed the programme. The fourth batch, with 25 personnel, is scheduled to begin training on June 22. Around 100 more coastal police personnel will undergo training in later batches.
The programme covers port security, including access control systems, measures for handling suspicious objects and devices, CCTV-based surveillance and monitoring, response drills, disaster management, safety protocols, and first aid.
The training aims to improve coordination between agencies involved in maritime and port security, and to improve the efficiency of personnel engaged in coastal policing duties.
