Investigations into the arrest of a suspect from Rajasthan by Collem police have revealed a conspiracy involving five people to rob a jewellery shop in Navelim village.
Margao police have registered a case against five individuals, all from Rajasthan, for planning the burglary at Navelim. Collem police had arrested one person some days ago for possessing an unlicensed firearm. Around the same time, two more people were arrested in Ramnagar, Karnataka.
Margao police have identified the accused as Ladu Singh from Beawar, Rajasthan; Rakesh Prajapati from Pali, Chopra Jodhpur, Rajasthan; Govardhan Rajpurohit from Barmer, Rajasthan; Shamlal from Jodhpur, Rajasthan; and Sandip Jhat from Jhunjhunu, Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Both Ladu Singh and Rakesh Prajapati have criminal records. The group met in Bangalore, Karnataka, and conspired to commit an armed robbery at a jewellery shop in Navelim.
On 23rd July, Ladu Singh, Govardhan Rajpurohit, Shamlal, and Sandip Jhat travelled from Bengaluru, Karnataka, to Margao. They stayed in a hotel, rented a car and a two-wheeler, and on 25th July 2024, guided by Rakesh Prajapati over the phone, they went to the Navelim area near the jewellery shop, making necessary preparations for the robbery using illegal firearms.
Further investigation is being conducted by PSI Sameer Gaonkar under the supervision of PI Tulsidas Naik, SDPO Margao DySP Santosh Desai, and SP South Sunita Sawant.
