Revokes NOC to SIDCGL for installation of pumping stations near church

The Colva panchayat has rejected the permission for the operation of motor paragliding at the world famous Colva beach.
The panchayat has further resolved to revoke the NOC issued to the Sewerage Infrastructure Development Corporation of Goa Ltd (SIDCGL) for the installation of pumping stations near the Colva Church road.
Colva Sarpanch Suzie Fernandes told the media that the permission sought by the motor paragliding sports operator did not find favour with the panchayat body following a joint inspection of the beach carried out with officials of the Tourism Department.
The sarpanch pointed out that it was revealed during inspection that the world famous Colva beach stretch is always crowed with visitors, adding the operation of the motor paragliding may prove dangerous for the visitors.
That’s not all. The sarpanch further pointed out that the beach stretch where the operator has sought permission to operate the motor paragliding is playing host to beach shacks. “The inspection report was placed before the panchayat body meeting and it was decided not to issue NOC for the motor paragliding on Colva beach,” she said.
Incidentally, Colva locals led by Simon Rodrigues and others have been demanding a ban on motor paragliding on Colva after an incident that occurred over a year ago when the fingers of a foreign tourist were severed from the hand in an accident involving a motor paragliding.
Meanwhile, the Colva Sarpanch has informed that the panchayat has decided to revoke the NOC issued to the SIDCGL for the installation of pumping stations at the Colva Church road.
