Incidents of smuggling are on the rise on the road from Valpoi city to Belgaum via Pali from Jambul Junction. A few days ago, a large quantity of illegal liquor was found on the same road. Two days ago, illegal bull smuggling was also detected on this road.
Due to this, special attention will be paid to this road soon. Police personnel have been deployed at night. Bicholim Deputy Superintendent of Police Jivaba Dalvi has warned that every vehicle will be thoroughly inspected.
Speaking at a press conference held at Valpoi, Dalvi said that the road from Pali Jambhul Junction via Valpoi to Belgaum city is shorter. Due to this, it is seen that many vehicles are using this route. Because of there being no checkpoint, it is suspected that there is illegal smuggling of liquor, illegal beef and other illegalities taking place in this area.
He further said that the police department has taken this matter seriously due to the fact that some elements are taking advantage of this and are carrying out various types of illegal traffic.
It is suspected that beef is being smuggled in the garb of vegetable transport. Meanwhile, according to the information received, accusations and counter-accusations have begun circulating in Goa regarding beef transportation from Belgaum area. Due to this, it is eveident that the beef and meat coming illegally from Belgaum area is being strictly checked.
In the past several incidents of beef seizure have taken place at the Keri police station. Large quantity of vegetables is being transported to Goa from Belgaum area. Taking advantage of this, there is a strong suspicion that an attempt is being made to smuggle beef in the garb of transporting vegetables in the vehicles. Due to this, the citizens are demanding that the police should undertake a strict investigation in this regard as well.
