Colva spas sealed for alleged illegal activities

Post-Arpora fire tragedy, two spas operating in Colva village were sealed and shut down as per the order of the South Goa district Collector, Egna Cleetus, on Wednesday.

The action comes in the wake of a report submitted by the Superintendent of Police, South Goa. The Collector and District Magistrate, South Goa, has directed the Mamlatdar of Salcete to immediately seal and close down the establishments operating under the names “Royal Spa” and “Happiness Will Grow Unisex Salon and Spa”, both located at Colva.

Acting on the Collector’s directives, a team led by the Salcete Mamlatdar sealed Happiness Will Grow Unisex Salon and Spa on Tuesday and Royal Spa on Wednesday.

The SP’s report alleged that illegal activities were being carried out at these premises. Upon verification, the operations were found to be in violation of Section 29(A), 29(B), and 29(C-1) of the Goa Public Health Act in the case of Royal Spa, and Section 29(A) of the Act in the case of Happiness Will Grow Unisex Salon and Spa.
