A case has been registered at Colvale Police Station against an undertrial prisoner, Suchana Shet, currently lodged at Central Jail Colvale, after she allegedly assaulted a jail staff member during official duty.
According to the complaint filed by the Lady Prison Constable (LPC), the incident took place on Monday around 11.30 am at the Ladies Block Office of the Central Jail.
The accused, who is facing trial in a case registered at Calangute Police Station, allegedly took the inward register from the ladies’ prisoner block without permission.
When the complainant questioned her over the unauthorised act, the inmate reportedly reacted aggressively by abusing her with filthy language, followed by physically assaulting her.
The complainant was allegedly kicked, her hair pulled, and she sustained bodily injuries in the attack.
Colvale Police have registered a case under Sections 121(1) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023 for causing grievous hurt to a public servant on duty.
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Dattaraj Rane of Colvale Police Station.
