A loaded concrete mixer vehicle travelling from the airport side towards Vasco overturned on its side at the Grade Separator flyover on Tuesday, triggering traffic congestion in the area. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.

The accident occurred when the heavy vehicle was negotiating a sharp turn on the flyover. According to initial information, the driver allegedly lost control while manoeuvring the curve, causing the mixer to tilt and fall on its side in the middle of the carriageway. The impact led to a temporary disruption of traffic movement, with vehicles slowing down as commuters gathered at the spot.

Police personnel rushed to the site soon after being alerted and diverted traffic to prevent further inconvenience to motorists.

Sources said the driver escaped unhurt and no other vehicles were involved in the mishap. The concrete mixer, which was fully loaded at the time of the accident, sustained damage, while a portion of the construction material reportedly spilled onto the road.

Authorities are examining the exact cause of the incident, including whether overspeeding or the vehicle’s load contributed to the driver losing control at the turn. Further inquiry is underway.
