Tension rent the air after a group of minor youths from Sao Jose de Areal were allegedly attacked when they had gone to the Gudi canal for swim after playing holi.
The youth have claimed that they were attacked by 10 persons from Margao with weapons, including knives and sticks.
As the news of the attack reached Areal, a group went in hot pursuit of the alleged assailants and managed to nab three of them near the Aquem Power House. They were later handed over to the police for further investigations.
The group claimed that the assailants tried to suffocate one of the minor boys in the water, while another sustained injuries on his leg and was later admitted at the South Goa district hospital.
