MARGAO
Implementation of Konkan Railway’s parking fees came into force at the Margao railway station on Wednesday, triggering an uproar with people saying even those going to the Konkan railway station to lodge a complaint will have to pay fees at the toll naka.
Konkan Railway senior official Baban Ghatge justified the implementation of the parking fees and the access fees to the railway station. Ghatge, however, said he would examine the issue of whether people going to the Konkan railway station to lodge complaints will also have to pay the fees to enter the railway station premises.
A fee collection booth has been set up at the entrance to the railway station. Fees have been prescribed for different categories of vehicles, including two-wheelers.
Since the fee collection booths have been set up on the road leading to the railway station, citizens have questioned whether they have to pay the toll to enter the railway station just to lodge their complaints at the police station located inside.
