The Margao Congress Block on Monday launched a signature campaign against Vote Chori in the Margao constituency. Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao urged people to stay alert and watchful against any illegal activities by the ruling BJP.
The campaign was launched by Margao Congress Block Convenor Savio Coutinho in the presence of AICC Goa in-charge Manikrao Thakre, South Goa MP Captain Viriato Fernandes, Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, South Goa District President Savio D’Silva, Chirag Naik and other Congress leaders.
AICC Goa desk in-charge Manikrao Thakre said he was pleased with the strong public response to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s call to act against Vote Chori.
Praising the efforts of Savio Coutinho, Thakre said Vote Chori is not just a concern for the Congress party but a serious issue for every voter. “Many voters may not even know if their names are on the rolls until polling day, when they are stopped from voting,” he added.
Coutinho explained the five key demands raised by the Congress and said the signature campaign will cover all 40 booths in the Margao constituency.
