Opposition Leader Digambar Kamat on Thursday said the Congress has a great chance of fielding 35 new faces to contest the upcoming assembly elections.
Speaking to reporters at Dabolim Airport, Kamat said All India Congress Committee (AICC) Goa Incharge Dinesh Gundu Rao could not visit Goa in the last few months due to the Covid pandemic.
"He will be in Goa and will meet everyone to review the situation and discuss how the party should move forward in the upcoming assembly elections.”
“As a party, we are in ready for the election full swing and the recently, all our agitations have evoked good response from people and our Karyakartas are also fully charged," said Kamat.
"We are only 5 MLAs remaining in the Congress and we have a good chance to finalise the remaining 35 seats. Leaving the present 5 MLAs, we can give a chance to 35 new faces to contest elections," he added.
Cong will form next
govt, says Sequeira
VASCO: Former minister Aleixo Sequeira on Thursday expressed confidence that the Congress would form the next Government in the State.
Speaking to reporters at Dabolim Airport, Sequeira said the people would vote in large numbers for the Congress party.
"We will surely form the next government in the State and I am sure we will have the numbers, more than 21 seats to form the next government.”
“I cannot comment on how the party will finalise its candidates because the call will be taken by the party high command. But no matter what happens, our party candidates will sweep the elections to form the next government," said Sequeira.
