Cong creates awareness on price rise in Panaji

PANAJI
Continuing with its initiative to create awareness among the people on price rise, the Congress party held awareness in the Panaji market on Sunday while condemning the BJP for burdening the common man and favouring the corporates.

As part of the programme, the party leaders went around the market and explained to them how the rising prices is affecting the common man who is forced to take loans to celebrate festivals.

Later, speaking to reporters, Aldona MLA Adv Carlos Ferreira chided that the ‘achche din’ of Modi are proving to be a distant dream and will never see the light of the day under the BJP rule.

“By introduction of GST, the small time businessmen have been finished while the big corporates are reaping the benefits,” Ferreira said and highlighted how the common man has to suffer today due to GST being imposed on essential items.

St Cruz MLA also said that the BJP government is interested in only protecting the interests of corporates while burning holes in the pockets of the common man with hike in prices of petrol, diesel, LPG, essential items, etc.

GPYC president Varad Mardolkar said that the people are forced to take loans to celebrate festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi.

“The price rise needs to be brought under control and we will continue our fight against rising prices,” he added.

Mahila Cong chief Beena Naik, block presidents, and others participated.
