The Congress continued to hit out at the State government following comments made by former Goa Governor Satya Pal Malik and challenged BJP leaders to file a complaint against Malik at a local police station instead of planning to write to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
GPCC President said Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu should not share the dais with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in light of comments made by Malik.
Speaking to reporters in the port town, Amonkar said Sawant had initially refrained from declaring a lockdown of entire Mormugao taluka at the behest of Urban Development Minister Milind Naik.
“This delay subsequently led to spread of Covid cases and several deaths as well,” claimed Amonkar.
Amonkar said the Congress had filed a complaint against Naik on July 28, 2020.
"The police must now use Malik’s statement and register our complaint against Naik. BJP State President Sadanand Shet Tanavade should file a complaint against Malik at a local police station instead of writing to PM Narendra Modi, which will be an eyewash to hide the corruption.
Meanwhile, GPCC President Girish Chodankar said Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, who arrived in the State on Wednesday, must keep the respect the sentiments of Goans and not make any public appearances with Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
“He can have internal meetings with the CM but must refrain from sharing a dais with Sawant as it would send a wrong signal to the public,” said Chodankar, while addressing a Mahila Congress convention in Zuarinagar.
“There should be some action against the chief minister, failing which people will lose faith in the government,” Chodankar added.
