The Opposition will continue efforts to revive alliance talks with the Goa Forward Party (GFP), despite its decision to put discussions on hold, while initiating talks with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) in the next two days. “We have respected GFP’s decision to keep alliance talks on hold, but are confident it will review the decision and resume talks. The day it does, we will start talks immediately,” Congress president Girish Chodankar told the media.
He said there was no need to conduct discussions through the media. “Why should we speak through the media? We will talk one to one,” he said.
Chodankar said efforts to restart dialogue with GFP would continue, as an Opposition alliance could not move ahead without the talks resuming.
Meanwhile, Congress is expected to hold talks with AAP and RGP within the next two days, depending on their schedules.
The Opposition also welcomed the Bombay High Court verdict on municipal elections, directing the State Election Commission to complete the process for 11 municipalities by January 4, 2027.
Targeting the BJP, Chodankar alleged that the ruling party feared facing elections before the 2027 Assembly polls as people were frustrated with the government.
