Cong slams govt for poor performance as reported by ADR

A day after the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) report stating that the Goa government had performed poorly on a majority of the top ten governance issues in the state, the Congress slammed the government for this poor performance.
Addressing the media at the Congress house in Panjim, spokesperson Trajano D'Mello said that "BJP MPs Narendra Sawaikar and Shripad Naik had a part in the non-performance of the government. They couldn't even get an appointment with the Prime Minister to discuss the mining issue," said D'Mello.
"They've even performed poorly on providing drinking water and clean air to the people. People have lost their jobs after demonetisation. Even these basic requirements of the people have not been fulfilled by the government," said D'Mello.
Spokesperson Adv Rohit Bras De Sa called the ADR report a credible source that indicated the under-performance of the government. "The report is credible as the government has not questioned its credibility. A systematic method was followed which got the voters' views on their priorities," said De Sa.
De Sa also said that the findings had been crucial. He specifically stressed on the unemployment-scenario in the state. "Despite Masters' degrees, youth are not getting jobs," he said.
The Congress also reminded people of the cautionary advice issued by the ADR saying, "People have to elect properly as once a candidate is elected, the electorate loses power over the elected person."
Meanwhile, when questioned about CM Manohar Parrikar being unwell during the time of the survey (Oct-Dec 2018), D'Mello said that this was irrelevant. "The BJP was on record saying that the CM was hail and hearty and that governance was not affected. They said this in an affidavit. So the smooth functioning of the government at that time was their responsibility," D'Mello, adding, "If the Chief Minister was not functioning well, they could have changed the CM."
