Claiming that the Dhavalikar brothers had been left isolated, Union Minister Nitin Gadkari stated that the people of Goa need to finish their political careers.

“Their situation is like ‘hum do, humare do’,” said Gadkari, while speaking at a BJP public meeting in Ponda on Wednesday.

“Sudin Dhavalikar didn’t keep his word that the MGP would not contest the Shiroda bypoll. He had promised me that his brother would not contest from Shiroda, but he didn’t keep up to his word. People of Goa need to finish their political careers,” said Gadkari.

Others present at the meeting included Deputy Chief Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar, Panchayats Minister Mauvin Godinho, PWD Minister Deepak Pauskar, Minister for Art and Culture Govind Gaude, BJP South Goa candidate and MP Adv Narendra Sawaikar, Shiroda bypoll candidate Subhash Shirodkar and Ponda BJP block president Vishwanath Dalvi.

Gadkari claimed that whatever works proposed by Sudin Dhavalikar had been passed by his ministry.

“I gave money for development in Goa and Dhavalikar celebrated Diwali. I request the deputy chief minister to conduct an audit and enquiry into it,” Gadkari said.

Holding voters responsible for political defections, Gadkari appealed to people to vote BJP for a stable government.

Stating that he had heard about Mahadev Naik joining the Congress, Gadkari said: “This is happening because of voters. If you don’t give stable government by supporting BJP, then more defections will happen.”

He also assured mining dependents to restart mining activity in the State.

“This election is important for Goa as well as nation. I assure you that the mining issue will be resolved. We will do it. I don’t give false assurances. I will help restart mining activity,” the union minister said.

Nitin Gadkari said generations of Congress have been giving assurances of removing poverty, but it has not happened so far.

“Poverty is only removed from those Congress leaders and not farmers,” said

Gadkari.

“Let us make Goa more beautiful and pollution free, corruption free,” appealed Gadkari.

Ajgaonkar said he had joined MGP after considering it was a party of the Bahujan Samaj.

“But MGP never took us in confidence. Sudin and Deeepak Dhavalikar were doing dadagiri and only both of them are running the party,” said Ajgaonkar.

Sawaikar appealed to the people to vote for him and enable Narendra Modi to form the government at the Centre.
