It was a blood donation camp on his birthday that finally led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) President Jose Philip D’Souza to officially declare his party’s support to the Congress for the Lok Sabha polls and two of the three by-polls.
“The NCP would now come out in the open to support the Congress party and I am confident the Congress candidates would definitely win the LS polls,” D’Souza said on Wednesday.
“It’s a time when like-minded parties unite for a greater cause and this time, people also must get together to vote for the Congress and show the door to the BJP. I am sure that Sardinha will win the elections in the South, but the margin may not be huge,” said D’Souza.
“AAP candidate Elvis Gomes will also play a role in the margin of victory for Sardinha. I feel votes polled by Gomes would have otherwise go to the Congress. The more votes that Gomes gets, the lower will be Sardinha’s margin of victory,” he added.
Earlier, over 120 people donated blood at the blood donation camp, which was organised by NCP supporters and inaugurated by St Andrews Parish Priest Fr Gabriel Coutinho.
