The Congress Party slammed the BJP government for using the police force to intimidate Congress workers as they expose the wholesale loot of public funds. 

They demanded immediate action at Sonsodo in respect of the irregularities pointed out by the Congress team.

The Congress team accompanied party spokesperson Savio Coutinho visited the Fatorda police station on Wednesday after being summoned by the police for an inquiry in connection with the complaint lodged by Margao Municipal Chief Officer Madhu Narvekar against Coutinho for visiting the Sonsodo waste treatment plant.

The Congress Party reaffirmed that the Party will not buckle to these tactics of intimidation, and will take up this criminal wastage of public funds before every possible forum. 

Coutinho along with Margao Congress Block members had recently visited the Sonsodo Gasification plant which was inaugurated by the Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on April 23, 2026. The Congress team exposed the scam behind the Rs 7.50 crore Gasification Plant and the Dumping of fresh mixed waste on the land that was reclaimed by spending nearly Rs 100 crores. 

South District President Assiz Noronha, Congress leaders Pausilipo Dourado, Aleixo D'costa, Peter D'Souza, Moreno Rebello, Arch Carlos Gracias, Zacarias Goes, Savio Gomes, Mariano Soares, Lincoln Gomes, Damodar Onskar, Aneil Alvares, Anwar Naroo, Clifford Dias, Aziz Shah, other office bearers along with Couitnho visited the Fatorda Police Station and met PI Rahul Naik in connection with the Police complaint filed against Coutinho, by Margao Municipal Council Chief Officer.
