The Congress on Thursday taunted the BJP for the soup it finds itself in over the Medium of Instruction (MoI) issue, with Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) General Secretary Pratima Coutinho, congratulating the party for finally exposing its true colours on the issue.
“It is now more than apparent that the BJP is willing to cheat and lie its way to the seat of power and that it had stood with the people only in a bid to get votes by maximising the mileage from the MoI issue. The people who had looked up to the BJP have now learnt a bitter lesson and are rueing their support to the BJP,” Coutinho said.
“The BJP is nothing but a party of lies and cheats. They have turned April Fools’ Day into an April Fools week with a whole series of making a fool of the people of Goa,” Coutinho said.
“All the BJP was interested in then, was to make a big hue and cry and a hungama. The Congress for all its faults, is not one which will cheat and lie its way to power. The people of Goa have now known this and will vote decisively in the State elections,” Coutinho said.
Coutinho also sought to list out other grievances against the government especially that of the ‘false promise’ made to the agitating FORCE campaigners that the MoI Bill would make its way into the following session of the Assembly then, its pre-election promises on the casino issue as well as on the DefExpo.
