The Congress has slammed the BJP for fooling the youth by advertising more than 100 jobs in PWD and another 500 in Goan Human Resources Development Corporation, threatening to file a complaint before the Lokayukta for corruption and malpractice.
Party spokesman Avinash Tavares has also demanded the cancellation of the tender by the Goa Electronic Ltd for selecting a GSM mobile service provider under the Digital Youth initiative.
Addressing the media, Tavares accused the BJP for denying reservations to OBC, ST & SC candidates.
On the issue of jobs in PWD and GHRDC, he pointed out that there are hundreds of employees languishing in the PWD contract society as daily wage labourers and also in the Goa Employees Recruitment Society.
“The BJP had time and again assured that their jobs would be regularised, but has failed to keep its word. In the case of the recruitment society, then CM Manohar Parrikar had assured in the Assembly Budget session that all the security guards of the society would be employed in GHRDC. Parrikar, as expected, did a U-turn. The 500 posts advertised on Monday is a betrayal of all the recruitment society guards who are waiting to be inducted in GHRDC,” he added.
Meanwhile, in a representation to the Chief Secretary, Tavares has said the scheme as detailed in the tender documents is only meant to entice voters and will not provide any guaranteed direct or indirect benefit to the youth. “The scheme is a waste of taxpayers' money and leaves a huge scope for corruption just like another ill-planned scheme like the table/cyberage scheme,” he said, while demanding that the government withdraw the scheme and implement a more holistic learning programme.
