Cuncolim MLA Yuri Alemao on Tuesday said that budget allocation for health will be increased, and Primary Health Centres, Sub-District Hospitals, and District Hospitals will be equipped with essential facilities currently lacking once the Congress returns back to power in Goa.
Alemao further stated that a 15-bedded hospital is taking shape in Cuncolim, which will help resolve many health-related issues. “I am confident that this project will become a reality within the given deadline. We have also opened a Wellness Centre, and people should take full benefit of these facilities,” he said, while speaking at a free medical camp organised by him for the people of Cuncolim constituency. Around 1,600 individuals benefitted from consultations across various medical departments.
“I had assured the people that spectacles would be provided after the tests were conducted. Today, I am fulfilling that assurance. But I urge everyone never to neglect eye health. We must check for corrective lenses at regular intervals,” Alemao said.
Zilla Panchayat member Sanjay Velip, South Goa District Congress President Assiz Noronha, and others were present at the occasion.
Saying he had consistently raised his voice against the failure of this government in the health sector, Alemao said “We demanded several changes and the installation of essential machinery to treat patients. But instead of focusing on this vital issue, the government is more interested in jumlas”.
Zilla Panchayat member Sanjay Velip praised the initiative undertaken by Yuri Alemao. “Many people from my Zilla Panchayat Guirdolim constituency benefitted from the medical camp organised last month,” he said.
