With an eye on the 2027 assembly elections, the Congress has initiated efforts to strengthen its organisation and rebuild confidence among voters by intensifying grassroots engagement and reconnecting with party workers.
The strategy was discussed at a crucial meeting chaired by Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president Girish Chodankar. The meeting was attended by Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao, Working Presidents and MLAs Altone D’Costa and Adv Carlos Alvares Ferreira, MK Shaikh, and district presidents Assiz Noronha, Rajesh Verekar, Mangaldas Naik and Shashank Narvekar.
During the meeting, leaders reviewed the current political situation in the state and deliberated on measures to enhance grassroots outreach, strengthen the organisation and improve public engagement. Discussions also focused on future programmes, mass contact initiatives and strategies to effectively highlight issues concerning the people of Goa.
Party sources informed that Congress leaders emphasised that sustained hard work and direct engagement with the people would be key to reviving the party’s prospects in Goa. “The party will have to develop confidence among its voters. Hard work and direct public engagement are what will help,” a source said.
Leaders also stressed the need to reconnect with grassroots workers who, according to them, had felt neglected over a period of time. “It is time to come together and unite. Our grassroots workers are our biggest strength,” a party leader said.
The Congress leadership reiterated its commitment to working in unity to protect Goa’s interests and provide what it described as a strong, people-centric alternative to the BJP government.
Meanwhile, the party has also launched a helpline to assist voters facing issues related to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. MLA Carlos Alvares Ferreira alleged that names of several voters, particularly in constituencies represented by the Opposition, had been deleted from the rolls. Affected voters can seek assistance through the Congress WhatsApp helpline on 7875833833.
