With Congress party workers looking to the party leadership to take a call on the Congress party’s stand on the Benaulim ZP by-election, State Congress president Amit Patkar has said the party will take an appropriate call after discussing the matter at the party forum.
When The Goan called up the GPCC chief to shed light on the party’s preparedness for the Benaulim by-poll or whether the Congress will leave the seat for the INDIA Alliance partner, Aam Aadmi party to contest, Patkar said the party leadership will take a call after deliberations.
“Members of the INDIA Alliance bloc had unitedly fought the just concluded Lok Sabha election. We will discuss the Benaulim bypoll issue within the party. After the discussions, we will have a meeting with the AAP leadership”, Patkar added.
Saying that most of the top Congress leaders are presently out of station, he said the question whether the Benaulim ZP seat will be left for the INDIA Alliance partner or otherwise, will be discussed and deliberated in the party forum after their return.
