Health Minister Vishwajit Rane on Thursday stated that if the Congress was so sure it could prove its majority on the floor of the House, then it should be going to meet the Governor with 21, and not 16 MLAs.
Slamming the Opposition for laying stake to government formation, Rane insisted that the BJP-led government was united under the leadership of Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.
He also said that there was no question of leadership change, considering everything was running smoothly under Parrikar.
“A Congress government is not possible in Goa at the moment,” he said, addressing media persons on the sidelines of a government event in the city. “The BJP government is here to stay. Why is the Congress keeping on calling our MLAs if they have the numbers?” he demanded.
Rane was adamant about the government being stable, informing that if at all a leadership change was being discussed, it would be done by the CM and alliance partners. He also said that just because the CM was undergoing treatment did not mean there was need to discuss names for a new CM.
Rane also added that there was no need for the media to continuously speculate on who would be the next CM when Goa already had a CM. “Instead of focusing on the health and well-being of the Chief Minister, the media has been speculating about change in leadership,” he stated.
