The Congress has said it is disturbing to note the conspicuous silence of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on the incident of attack on a young girl in Guirdolim by stopping her vehicle on the way in broad daylight.
“Why you did not react to the incident of the young girl who was forced to drink disinfectant in Guirdolim? Why you silent on atrocities on women? You are the CM and it is your duty to protect each and every citizen,” questioned Congress leader and Benaulim ZP candidate Royla Fernandes on Friday.
She was reacting to a tweet of the CM directing the police to take strong action against those involved in the dreadful incident at Porvorim where a person was burnt and he later succumbed to his injuries.
In her reply to the CM’s tweet, Royla tweeted: “Unfortunately, the person succumbs to injuries. My condolences to his family. @Dr Pramod P Sawant, why you did not react on the incident of girl forced to drink disinfectant in Chandor? Why you remain silent on atrocities on women? You are @ goa cm & your duty is to protect all.”
