State Congress President Luizinho Faleiro has declared that the party is open for an alliance with any element on the condition that Congress’ core values and ideology are not compromised. He is also on record that if the MGP forgoes its contentious stand on the Medium of Instruction and agrees to blunt the edges of its radical beliefs, Congress will be open to shake hands with the Dhavalikars.
When contacted, All India Congress Committee secretary Girish Chodankar stated, “We are in touch with like-minded elements but we will not deviate from our core basic values. The rest can be up for discussion.”
On the basis of the number that Congress secures when the bell goes off at full time, the party’s big wigs will attend a closed-door meeting convened by AICC general secretary Digvijaya Singh and AICC secretary Dr Chella Kumar at Congress House to work out the permutations and combinations for forming the government. MGP is likely to be at the center of the discussion table with the two parties warming up to each other over the last 35 days.
